Dr. Kurt Richebächer, the editor of The Richebächer Letter, followed world currency and credit markets for nearly 60 years. A trusted voice of sanity in the midst of financial chaos, many analysts and commentators depended on his keen insights and research. As analyst Leo Hood once said, "You may not like what he has to say, but ignore him at your own peril."

Beginning in 1998, Dr. Richebächer made a series of economic predictions that came true with startling accuracy. He predicted the collapse of Brazil’s currency, the real, in the late 1990s. He warned that the stock market was overheating in January 2000 — just before the major indexes fell sharply from their highs. And he foresaw the U.S. dollar’s sharp fall against the euro.

On Aug. 24, 2007, Dr. Kurt Richebächer passed away at the age of 88.
But the last months of his life were dedicated to warning people about the dangerous housing bubble. As time once again proves him correct, we expect even more people to discover and appreciate his tireless work.

In Memoriam: Dr. Kurt Richebächer

Dear Reader,

On Aug. 24, 2007, Dr. Kurt Richebächer passed away at the age of 88.

Over the course of his 70-plus years studying finance and working in the banking industry, Dr. Richebächer developed many close relationships. Longtime market guru Richard Russell... best-selling financial authors Doug Casey and William Bonner... Barron's contributor and editor of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer Jim Grant... former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker... all called Dr. Richebächer a personal friend.
Paul Volcker himself once said, "Sometimes I think it's the job of each Fed chairman to try to prove Richebächer wrong."

Dr. Richebächer will be remembered as a man who stood by his convictions -- warning investors of the trouble he saw in the U.S. economy. He predicted the market crisis in tech stocks in 2000–2001… the steep fall of the U.S. dollar… and, most recently, the dangers of the housing bubble.

We’re working hard to find an editor to continue Dr. Richebächer’s important work at The Richebächer Letter. As you can imagine, the good doctor is not an easy man to replace.

At this time, we are no longer taking subscriptions to The Richebächer Letter. However, to pay tribute to Dr. Richebächer, we’ll use the next six months to republish some of his classic issues. Once a month, Richebächer members will receive a classic issue -- completely FREE.

We will also let you know where we are in the process of finding someone to take over the reins of the letter.

If you’re a Richebächer Letter member and have any questions about your subscription, please feel free to call our customer service center at 1-800-708-1020.

Sincerely,

Addison Wiggin, Executive Publisher
